Why is my Computer running slower than normal?
There could be many different reasons why your computer is running slow but in many cases it is a result of a virus, spyware or adware program running in the back ground.
What is Spyware?
Spyware is any technology that aids in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge. On the Internet (where it is sometimes called a spybot or tracking software), spyware is programming that is put in someone's computer to secretly gather information about the user and relay it to advertisers or other interested parties. Spyware can get in a computer as a software Virus or as the result of installing a new program. Some common signs of a spare infection are excessive popup windows and your computer starts to run slower than normal.
What is Ad-ware?
Generically, Ad-ware (spelled all lower case) is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. How do I remove Spyware/Ad-ware from my computer?
Due to the variations in spyware programs and the different methods they use to infect your computer, removing them is not always easy. One of the ways to remove spyware is to use programs such as Spybot Search and Destroy which can be found in our download section. Spybot can be used to remove most of the more common forms of spyware, it won't remove all of them because some forms of spyware are more like viruses and will require a technician to remove. |
